Keynote Speakers

William A. Knight IV, MD, FACEP, FNCS University of Cincinnati Medical Center Professor of Emergency Medicine, Neurology, and Neurosurgery

Dr. William A. Knight IV is a distinguished Professor of Emergency Medicine, Neurology, and Neurosurgery, known for his exceptional contributions to the medical field. He serves as the Medical Director for the Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Providers (EM APP) Program and as the Chief of Staff at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC).

Leadership in Sports Medicine

Dr. Knight is the Lead Physician for the NFL's Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant (UNC), Emergency Response Physician (ERP), and Airway Management Physician (AMP) Programs in Cincinnati. His role includes coordinating all independent doctor roles for the NFL in Cincinnati, ensuring top-notch care and emergency preparedness for athletes.

Notable Contributions and Clinical Work

As a key member of Damar Hamlin's care coordination team at UC, Dr. Knight has demonstrated his expertise and commitment to patient care. He also works clinically in the Emergency Room (ER), Neurological and Surgical Intensive Care Units (NSICU and SICU), bringing his extensive knowledge to critical care settings. Additionally, Dr. Knight is deeply involved with the NFL, enhancing their emergency preparedness and contributing to the International Game Series.


James Millburn, MD Vice Chair - Ochsner Radiology New Orleans, LA

Dr. Milburn is Vice Chair of the Ochsner Department of Radiology Department and Professor of Radiology at the University of Queensland. He serves as Program Director for the radiology residency and also Director of Neurointerventional Services at Ochsner. Dr. Milburn attended UMKC Medical School followed by diagnostic radiology residency at Ochsner. He performed fellowship training in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University. As a Program Director, Dr. Milburn cultivates a collegial atmosphere while motivating residents to become successful. He is an active researcher and educator, with primary interests in stroke and brain aneurysm treatment, neuroimaging, and resident education. Dr. Milburn is a past presient of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS) and is currently on the editorial board of the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery.

Personalized Surgical Neuro-Oncology: Current Challenges and Opportunities

Dr. Zsolt Zador specializes in both complex cranial work, including neuro-oncology, endoscopic neurosurgery, and skull base procedures as well as complex spine surgery. He is fellowship trained in these subspecialties at the University of Toronto. He holds board certification in Canada and the UK. He is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Zador’s research leverages biomedical data and machine learning for individualized patient treatments. He completed his PhD studying cytotoxic brain edema. With over 60 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Zador has contributed to journals like Nature Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Cancer Cell.

Recently, Dr. Zador joined the Abay Neuroscience Center in Wichita, Kansas, as a neurosurgeon and is excited about the future.


Continuing Education/Continuing Medical Education (CE/CME)

Presentation purpose:

The Neuroscience and Stroke Symposium will give learners updates on diagnoses and treatment options for patients with neurological disorders, so they can better care for their patients and improve outcomes. Education will focus on updated medical, surgical, and endovascular treatments for stroke and related neurological conditions. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss updates and treatment options for acute ischemic stroke. 
  • List the indications and treatment options for Carotid Artery Disease. 
  • Review updates in Speech Language Pathology care of stroke patients. 
  • Discuss management of central venous sinus thrombosis. 
  • Review updates and treatment options for hemorrhagic stroke. 
  • Integrate APRN role into the care of acute stroke patients. 
  • Distinguish key pharmaceutical interventions used in neurologic patients. 
  • Explore updates in the management of concussion. 
  • Discuss pathology and treatment of idiopathic intracranial hypertension. 
  • Review updates in the identification and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. 
  • Discuss other neurological conditions including subdural hematoma, traumatic brain injury, and meningiomas. 
  • Look into neuropsychiatric roles and implications in the treatment of neuro patients. 

Target audience: 

This activity is designed for the interdisciplinary audience including the following: Physician, Physician Assistant, Pharmacist, Nurse, Social Workers, Advanced Practice Nurse
